It makes me feel sick that...

On Saturday a crack addict died in her flat and this made breaking news! Why though, isn't every other crack addict that is found dead reported in this way... oh yeah because they haven't recorded a grammy award winning album and been reported in the tabloids on a regular bases passed out in the street with sick in their hair! It is sickening that people would rather hear about someone who wasted their life, than all the people who died tragically by the hands of a religious fundamentalist in Norway also last week! News Thump sums it up very nicely... http://newsthump.com/2011/07/25/one-dead-drug-addict-more-lucrative-than-93-m...

Freud

Anyone that gives an argument Amy Winehouse was a tragic loss due to her talent (supposed talent) is talking rubbish. Renowned realist painter Lucian Freud also died last week at the age of 88, also a very talented man whose death did not make as much headline... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-14243713

It doesn't take a genius to see that Amy was a victim of drug and domestic abuse, why then is no one using her death to raise awareness of opportunities for how those without millions can get help?

Have you thought about what to do incase of a Zombie Apocalypse? The US has!!!

On July 17th 2011, renowned publication New Scientist commented on the USA's contingence plans in case of a Zombie apocalypse. This makes me feel a whole lot better that others are taking this threat seriously although not sure if it proves I'm not insane, but hey why let that worry me after all these years and you'll all be asking for advice (quickly before services go down) if it ever happens.

The New Scientist is referring to the US Centers for Disease Control's document... Preparedness 101 which can be found http://www.bt.cdc.gov/socialmedia/zombies_blog.asp. Unfortunatley the only helpful advice given like what supplies to haveis just obvious and any items like shotguns for example seems to be completely missing. Personally I am surprised that Americans would pass up a chance for a bit of gun welding!

Other advice such as an emergency contact list of police etc is probably pointless, as even if they were not inundated with calls they would probably herd you towards a mass refugee camp to make it so much easier for the Zombies to kill everyone.... thats if the Zombie's have not already eaten your brains whilst waiting at your mailbox as the suggested emergency meeting point for you and your family

Essentially my advice is to think of you own survival plan and not reply on the authorities, I think that we have seen enough Zombie and apocalypse movies to know that they only ever make matter's worse!!!

Too many books...

Recently I have decided to move to somewhere with cheaper rent, free use of the landlords climbing gear and somewhere without carpet for the cats to scratch up. I haven't mentioned to the cats that they are not allowed upstairs cos of the said carpet scratching but I'm so looking forward to new bedsheets without cat hair :0). I really wished my housemate had stuck to our plan to move in August so I wouldn't have to move/revise for an exam/do coursework all at the same time. My priorities have definately shown this week tho with me more worried about what I can fit into my little room than work for my last year at uni. Getting rid of clothes was far to easy and now I'm affraid I wont have much to wear, the biggest task was having to choose which books to keep and which books to give away, luckily most have gone to good homes. My new landlord is very reasonable about how much space I can take up in the living room, however I do not think he realises how many books I still have :os! I have kept telling him about how impressive my achievement was to get rid of half my book collection, yet I still feel a trip to Ikea for a bookcase coming on at the weekend :D
